Nouveau Beaujolais and Neuer Wein!
To Philly, with love, from Beaujolais and Coatesville, PA!
Every year on the third Thursday of November, the world celebrates the first wine of the year from Beaujolais – the Nouveau.
For the third year, Jet is also celebrating the first wine of the year from Coatesville producer, Stargazers.
Beaujolais Nouveau is made with gamay, while Dornfelder is the grape for Stargazers’ wine – dubbed the Neue for the grape’s German roots. Nouveau from Beaujolais and Neuer Wein from Dornfelder are young wines that are bottled immediately after harvest and meant to be drunk right away – often in celebration of the harvest and the year’s first wines. Both Gamay and Dornfelder are early ripening grapes with nice acid structure, and light notes of bright, red berries.
This year, we are offering Domaine Pral Beaujolais Nouveau Rosé (yes, Rosé) along with Stargazers Dornfelder. Each glass is $8, until we run out.
These are fun wines, best drunk in great company!
The official release of the Dornfelder is Saturday, November 17th at the vineyard’s “Dornfelder Day”, but you can get an early taste at Jet and then head over to Coatesville for more!
